Communities in Bloom

People, Plants & Pride… Growing Together!

Communities in Bloom is a non-profit Canadian organization committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility and beautification through community involvement. This program has been a success in our community because of dedicated community volunteers. They are volunteers who have sense of pride and want to see their community move forward.

We’re looking forward to another beautiful year in Trenton!

Keeping Trenton Beautiful

Community involvement and pride plays a large role in the Trenton CiB success!
How can you do your part? It’s easy!
Here are some easy things you can do to help around your own home:

  • Maintain your lawn.
  • Keep sidewalks & curbs weed free.
  • Add planters or hanging baskets to your home or business.
  • Plant a garden (flower, shrub or vegetable)
  • Be sure to compost.
  • Plant a tree.
  • Be environmentally friendly… Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!
  • Pick up litter around your home, neighbourhood or business.
  • Get involved in a neighbourhood cleanup, beautification project, tree planting or local trail development (Did you hear about Go Clean Get Green Pictou County?)

Fostering Civic Pride

Trenton Public Works and Park staff will be working on the maintenance & beautification of the Town this summer. We are asking residents to consider assisting with the following whenever possible:

  • Keep any catch basins clean & free of any blockages in front of their property to ensure everything drains smoothly
  • Mow the strip of grass between the sidewalk & curb in front of their residence
  • Vegetation on private land should not obstruct pedestrians use of sidewalks or reduce visibility on streets or at intersections including signage. If you are not physically capable of completing this work yourself, residents are encouraged to contact a local landscaping company to provide the service.
