Trenton Park Revitalization Funding
After several years of planning, the Town of Trenton has been awarded an estimated $3.8 million for the revitalization of Trenton Park. This is great news for not only Trenton but all of Pictou County and beyond as the upgrades will allow the Park to offer much more to residents, the local communities and visitors alike.
Who is funding this project?
The contributions are from all three levels of government:
- Federal Government - $2.3 million
- Provincial Government - $1.2 million
- Municipal Government – upwards of $300,000
What will be covered from this funding?
The work to be done consists of the following: architectural, underground infrastructure, playground equipment, new washrooms and renovations to existing washrooms, shade shelters, benches, bike racks, fire pits, signage, parking lot expansion and paving, pool upgrades, splash pads, fenced in dog park, canteen upgrades, storage facilities, bridge and fishing dock, and woodland trails.
When will work be completed?
Work will begin this fall with the designing and costing of the project. In the years 2020/2021 the Town will see major construction happening as it will take those spring, summer and fall time frames to complete the revitalization.
What about other things that could be done at Trenton Park?
Once this revitalization has been completed, the Town will look to additional add-ons to enhance the services within the Park moving forward. The Town would look to the possibility of a committee to work specifically on Park enhancements at that time. In the meantime, the scope of the work outlined above will give the Park the needed improvements and amenities to make future options more viable.
The Town wishes to thank all those involved in the project to-date and acknowledge their dedication and efforts. We would also like to specifically recognize the hard work and commitment put forth from the Hemlock Group. This devoted group of volunteers have been working tirelessly to see this plan come to fruition.
